Operation Hannibal

The Eastern Front in World War Two was a place of unimaginable horror, on a scale never experienced before or since on earth. The Nazi armies had sown the wind with their horrific brutality towards the Jewish and Russian peoples, and in the last few months of the war, were reaping the whirlwind as the Red Army tramped across the Reich. From the beginning, the suffering of the innocent had been a constant theme of the conflict, and from January 23rd, 1945 to the end of the war, the German Navy carried out the greatest sea evacuation of all time to try and spare the refugees of the east from the cruelty of the avenging Red Army. This is the true story of “Operation Hannibal.”
